My Skills

Research

I am methodical and persistent when it comes to research, and I enjoy Ethnography. I also love the research and learning curves that come with new clients, projects and industries. I can effectively pull together Competitor Analysis and Market Analysis. I have a fundamental understanding of SEO optimisation.

User Experience

I have experience running UX Workshops, such as Requirement Gathering,  Card Sorting, Interviews and Focus Groups. I can define and develop Personas, User Journey Maps and Empathy Maps. I enjoy engaging with colleagues to discern strategic options, and have had experience producing functional workflows, sitemaps and  Information Architectures. I can and have employed several UX techniques such as Service Safaris and Contextual Inquiries.

User Interface Design

I can confidently produce Low, Mid and High-Fidelity Wireframes, and I have an understanding of when is the right time and situation that demands them. I have high attention to detail and hence I feel capable at producing High-Fidelity Visual Mock-Ups, complete with colour and visual content. I have a strong grasp of Colour Theory. I reference award winning websites daily and find it useful to have a really good moodboard and set of references for any given project. I have a intermediate understanding of typography.

Adaptability and Continuous Learning

I pride myself on my ability to get stuck in and fight through a steep learning curve, and I feel it incredibly rewarding to expand my repertoire. I try to be self-reflective as much as possible and periodically ask for feedback and try to action on it. I frequently try to recall new techniques and apply them in my work. I always consider the 10 usability heuristics when designing or analysing references. I am lucky to have a wide range of tastes and hobbies, and this probably feeds more into the open-minded attitude that I hope to sustain.

Collaborative Communication

I excel in collaborating with cross-functional teams, from my multi-disciplinary engineering batch-mates to liaising with multiple teams at the workplace to ensure smooth deliveries. I enjoy the thrill of presenting and sharing a story or a team's piece of work that I'm proud of, and I feel that I have the capacity to read the room and appropriately pivot to keep things moving in the right direction. Making sure my colleagues and I are on the same page as each other is a preventative measure I like to take, when it comes to avoiding repeated work and deliveries that miss the mark. I am also a confident visual communicator, since I myself absorb things best through visual means.

About me

Hi, I'm Sid

I'm a British UX/UI designer based in London, formally educated as an engineer. Having attained my Masters in Product Design Engineering, I realised that my passion lies in user experience design - using empathy and systematic research to innovatively design product solutions is a rewarding process that I endeavour to keep experiencing in my professional career.

I've garnered a lot of experience in my current role, to the point where I have been able to take ownership and lead sub-teams for agile deliveries relating to web, mobile and native application products. I believe that my strongest traits lie in my communication style, critical thinking, creativity and dedicated work ethic.

In my spare time, I love to produce music (with 3 projects in the works under my moniker), experiment in the kitchen, play RPGs and keep active by bouldering, cycling or playing football.
